i rarely post on pinterest but i follow some decent people so my board is full of thing like star wars art and really cool do it yourself projects for my house. not a bad way to spend 20 minutes a week while sitting on the toilet.

I can't help but shudder when I go on pinterest, probably for the same reasons as B9. Sadly, I can't go on facebook now without somebody posting about it. I don't care what you cooked unless it's going in my effin' belly. I like crafts so I can't really dis that, but I never post my stuff online.

It's a bit embarrassing how long it took me to put this into play. I won't take all of the blame though, because social conventions guilted me into a lot of the useless people I followed or was "friends" with. I cleaned my Twitter out, and it is seriously a constant barrage of cool shit now. I use Facebook to keep up with buddies scattered around the country/world, so unfortunately that will continue to be full of stupid shit. I've been meaning to check out Pinterest too. When I first saw it, I hated it, but I assume that's because the person who showed it to me was interested in really stupid shit.

So, the president's wife works here, right? And I've met her on easily a dozen occasions. Every time, I make it a point of telling her my name and position - and I wear my snazzy, shiny, brass name tag to drive the point home in an engraved print. My name and title are also on the plate that hangs outside my door (she spends insane amounts of time in meetings right across the hall) and in the signature of every email that leaves my outbox.

Today, she sent an email:

Part of me wanted to play dumb.
Part of me was sad to be reminded that I'm a disposable peon.
Part of me developed momentary nerd rage.

But then I remembered that the email server is not my responsibility, so I passed the buck on to the IT department and out of my inbox. Ta-ta, princess. Enjoy your stay in help desk hell.
