Developing a PHP interface for a MySQL database

Posted 11 October 2012 - 10:01 PM

So here's the problem, I have never used PHP before. For an assignment that I am working on, I need to create a blank text box that accepts MySQL statements and passes them onto my MySQL database. This will be constructed using PHP and a little HTML on a web server that I have a space allocation for. For right now, I am going to assume that the user enters these statements using correct syntax. Other than that, there only has to be a header above the text box.

My question is, what do I need to learn in order to construct this? I've never taken a PHP course or done any web development, and for now, I just want to learn what I need to. Are there any recommendations?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

You should read up on the basics of PHP. From there learn how to use POST/GET variables and forms, connecting to a mysql database (trying learning PDO for taht), SQL syntax, and a little bit of security.
