com port programing in java

hi friends..
is this possible to create com port programming in java to initialize it and communicate with external data source..
i am using jdk1.7 in windows 7 O.S.

Java is not made to be a low-level language.
So the answer is yes and no. It could not be PURE Java. You could however link Java with some other low-level language.
