wxPython and MDI

Posted 12 October 2012 - 09:46 PM

I'm using wxPython to create a GUI which includes the use of the MDI.

My target platform is linux (Ubuntu) and I've noticed a few issues. First, the most annoying issue is actually platform independent. When using MDI it seems natural that the child window's menus are appended to the menu of the parent. That is the menubar of the parent becomes [Parent menu entries][child menu entries]. Unfortunately wxPython seems simply remove the parent menu entries replacing them with the child menu entries.

What is causing this, and how do I change it?

The second issue is possibly a bug in wxPython. When there is only a single child window in my MDI and I maximize the parent, the child's menu entries completely disappear from the parent. Only when I add a second child window do they reappear.

Fixes or advice regarding either issue would be very helpful.

Thanks!
