i want to learn php

I am a graphic designer,

i don't know how to use php, i want to learn how to use it. i have a little idea of programming

As Amadeus pointed you to some links they are all amazing sites. w3schools give information for each function for most programming languages. If you go and look at the php.net page it will go into more descriptions for each and every one. This is because they are maintaining it all on their site. They also have examples from users that post them for the function to show real life examples. It helped me a great deal for school when I needed reference.

Also a quick 'cheat sheet' is always here: http://www.ilovejackdaniels.com/php/
There is many there for other languages, hope that helps.

When I first tried to learn php online, I was really discouraged by the amount of things to learn. May I suggest you get a book, its how I learned.

xampp is a really easy server setup for apache, php and mysql (all of which you'll need)
