Oh, yeah, you're right. Girls like surprises. And girls like bricks. A surprise brick? Made of win.

I was always a fan of Yirmahmuh!'s "Brick of Silence". I should have bought a palette when I had the chance.

You guys are savages...
Go to Walmart and buy some:
Duct Tape
Rope
Vaseline
and paint your face like a scary clown. Wait for yourvictim date in a dark alley and when she walks past jump out and yell BOOGEY BOOGEY BOOGEY! She will be so freaked out she might even faint, allowing you to easily secure her safely with duct tape and a rope to later wake up in your warm and cozy basement.
Now that is a hot date!

Yeah. 3D printers. Fun stuff. We don't have our flying cars, but we're getting towards being able to download our durable goods, which is a little step towards the science fiction universe I was promised.

I think they're great - when I'm a little richer I might get one to play around with. For now, the price-point makes it difficult to stomach. Virginia Tech actually got a huge 3D printer, but this was sadly after I'd left.

Of course there are gun (ala "In the Line of Fire" ) designs... it was in the news recently.
You could also try the first intro 3d printing form - mud. It's totally green and user friend. Roots 3d printing!

I'm imagining a bunch of drug dealers with their 3d printers in heavily guarded warehouses.

I think having all drugs being printed on printers IN YOUR HOME would be amazing. It would take drug dealers AND drug users off the streets. granted some users might still go around town while intoxicated. even make the designs for the drugs in the public domain; otherwise the information on how to make it wont be available to all the junkies. if you could just go print up a batch of insert drug here at your printer how would drug dealers have any market left?

Here's the thing that gets me about the drugs; yes, there would be drug abuse, and lots of it. I'd probably print a half-dozen or so illegal pharmaceuticals a week.
But the thing is, there are chemicals out there, that we know about, that can end any addiction instantly. They mainly aren't used because the pain of withdrawal is generally seen as a well deserved 'fuck you' to the addicts, for their behavior (sometimes), and for feeling good when other people couldn't, but the chemicals exist and are widely known nonetheless (example).
I don't think a chemical printer is something many people would have at home, come to that, but I could definitely see a major pharmacy (or maybe something like a Portuguese night club?) with a few along the back wall and a store room of raw chemicals, rather than pre-made pills (or other substances), and that could be licensed out and made profitable for drug companies, if they sold formulas and did research and cut down on pill production.

You know, if you replace the idea of the grey liquid with the idea that energy and matter are interchangeable and we pretty much have a replicator like in Star Trek! I ask for a part to build my doomsday machine, it prints energy into matter using a "pattern" (remember the transporter personnel talking about patterns?) and there you go.
Just a thought.... I wonder if Star Trek had to deal with transporter/replicator spam. Some of you better get off those porn mailing lists or who knows what you will get in the transporter/replicator mail!

P.S. Whole different take on mail order brides!
