I've got a PR3 website that I'm trying to get to PR4, & every SEO tool (website) that I use shows that I have zero Google backlinks. I have around 100ish from other sites (Yahoo, MSN, all of the internet), but it's allways zero with Google.

So my question is this, what exactly is a Google backlink & since I don't have any, what is a good way to get some setup? Also, what would you suggest to stay away from when setting them up. I'm not looking for a quick jump, I'm looking for something long term.

Google doesn't update the backlinks count very often (once every 3-6 months usually)

Best way to get back links, create worthwhile content that people will link to.

Do some research on "link bait"

kind of similar problem with me..
my PR is NA (Not Applicable)
which occurs when Google has not crawled my site (which is not the case)
or Google banned my site(again not possible)
As skyhawk suggested,I guess it will take some time for the upgradation of PR..

Yes, I too am seeing this with a new site.
The results show that I'm the #1 site returned, yet this site shows I'm N/A!

Oh it did... it's no longer returning under google. It's a mystery!
