What are you trying to do? are you trying to use a table as a template for your page, or do you want to add a table to your page?

You'd be better off mocking up your design in some graphics package and showing us an image. Your description and diagram could mean a whole load of different things!

I am very knew to web design (so my opinion is most likely rubbish), but in my experience frames are no good. What it sounds like you are trying to do is use frames for formats. Frames are not for that. Use tables, change the borders if you want a line. If you reply back and explain better I might be able to help more...

Yeah I think BrainStew hit what he wanted. He wanted the whole banner at top, menu on side and content to the right tables instead of frames.

I actually use this type of layout a lot, makes for easy templates.
