My personal favorites were the entries from modi123_1 (Original), BetaWar (Colorful/Dragon), and a strong liking for creativecoding's (Black/White/Quote).

I had originally gone for a stained-glass style, but that didn't really work out as well as I liked, so I had to change direction (wound up darkening the background and image overall). Sadly, I wasn't able to come up with anything super original this month. In retrospect, I should have gone with Excalibur or some other legendary weapon, that could have been really cool.

My original plan before getting all swamped was to do something along the lines of Oak Island, but couldn't design anything I liked enough to commit for creation.
