Reading Sound from a Device and working with it

Posted 03 November 2012 - 01:03 PM

Hi all! I just picked up a new toy that lets me mesh two of my favorite hobbies: music and computers. It's a USB Amp, essentially. I'm currently in the process of setting it up, haven't gotten to play with it yet.

Anyway, I would like to, preferably with Java, throw together a program to start messing with sound i/o and reading from it. Part of the reason is because it would be a great learning experience. I've never worked with sound, or with reading raw input directly from a device.

I've poked around the forums but haven't found anything that really gets in to these topics. I'm not really sure where to begin. I was hoping someone might be able to point me to a few good resources to read up on how to read and manipulate sound from a device?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0
