How to develop a POS receipt in java

Which is the best method to create a Point of sales receipt e.g using jasperreport,itext e.t.c. I have already created P.O.S. but now am stack coding on how to generate receipt showing item name,price,quantity,and tax and then send the message to the printer.I have tried to code but nothing to figure out.

No one's going to tell you which is best. Each one has its own features and you need to figure out which one suits you best. How about doing a comparison of the two. Or visiting their forums (if they exist) and talking to people who are using them. How about choosing the simpler of the two that does what you need and going with that. A Google search of "itext vs jasper reports" instantly turns up what appears to be exactly what you need.

When using itext, can you print preview and then send to the printer to do the work.
