developing my own CAD application question

Posted 08 November 2012 - 07:26 PM

Dear All,
I need to create an application that clone an 2D AutoCAD drawing. The AutoACD drawing shows a floor plan with several boxes and by querying a database I “instruct” the AutoCAD to paint the boxes with several colors. Of course the AutoCAD drawing already have the boxes designed. For that I use the NETLOAD tool and a dll developed in c sharp. Everything works fine but I want to move to next level. There are several users that are mainly operators and don’t understand all the steps they have to do to activate the NETLOAD tool. Because of that and because I developed an application that handles several information from the boxes I would like to create the CAD functionality on it. At this stage I only need 2D aspect. Does anyone can give an hand on this matter?
Best regards
Joaquim Pinto

Do you want this moved to 'Jobs for Hire'? Because cloning AutoCAD is not a quickie problem thread kinda thing.

Maybe I didn't explain carefully. I have a 2D drawing made in AutoCad with several boxes and by using the NETLOAD tool I can query a database and paint each and every box according with the data queried.
I want to do the same in my won C# application. I want to be able to draw the same 2D drawing with the boxes and paint them according with the data on the database.
Can this be done in C#?
Best regards,

Joaquim Pinto

(As general as the question), you can use:

Windows Forms => System.Drawing http://msdn.microsof...em.drawing.aspx
WPF => System.Windows.Shapes http://msdn.microsof...ows.shapes.aspx
or some 3rd party controls (ex DevExpress) (if you are rich)
