Happy Carl Sagan Day! :D

Carl Sagan Day. :) He had alot to say about Astronomy, but also Technology. Sure, this day is more about science than programming and math, but we can all appreciate a good mind.

I'm gonna start this day off with a few quotes of his that I like,

"We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology."
"Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known."
"We have also arranged things so that almost no one understands science and technology. This is a prescription for disaster. We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces."

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 6

I remember reading Cosmos when I was like 12. It got me more interested in physics than all the textbooks and teachers combined. Thank you Mr.Sagan.

Glad other people appreciate this great man. :)

I've always thought that being disillusioned is underrated.

I suppose it's a tad bit hard to be happy when you believe your life is rather meaningless in the scheme of things.

To lighten things back up, a banana! :bananaman:

And a funnier quote of his.

"It is of interest to note that while some dolphins are reported to have learned English -- up to fifty words used in correct context -- no human being has been reported to have learned dolphinese."

Another favorite of mine: "Books break the shackles of time. A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic."

And of course : "If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe."

Love this one:

"A celibate clergy is an especially good idea, because it tends to suppress any hereditary propensity toward fanaticism."

^ Haha, I wanted to put that one, but I always worry that anything pertaining to religion will start an argument. ^_^
