Does blood of the innocent count? If no, then beer.

I am naive.Please explain?

Obviously.

Turn off your computer. Leave your house. Meet people. Travel. Meet other people from other places. Learn things. Do things. Try things. Take chances. Experiment. Figure out who you are and who you want to be.

If you're coming to the DIC Lounge to find an idol, you are clearly fundamentally misguided.

There are a lot of very intelligent people here. There may be an abundance of geniuses here as well. There are also a lot of idiots, morons, assholes, and douchebags. Eating meat lovers pizza and drinking ludicrous amounts of coffee isn't going to make you one of them anymore than eating cow intestines and drinking pig blood.

Go out and discover the world... cultivate yourself... not a copy of someone else.

I hear the preschools still have a decent supply of innocents. Might want to start there.

But I want to become a great programmer like you not a travel agent.

Yeah. Fifth graders trying to lookup girls' skirts and taking pictures of females teachers' side boob. At this rate I'll need to get the blood off the babies I kick.

You can be a good programmer without trying to mimic the exact details of a whole bunch of different people. First that's asinine because some people will have disparate answers, but more importantly you cannot copy/paste someone's mundane life style and assume that leads to some 30th level programming l33th00d.

You get that, right? Eating what someone eats, jamming to their tunes, drinking their favorite drinks, and watching their movies does not help you become a good programmer any more than chewing your toe nails or syncing up your boom-boom schedules with people on the internet. What makes you good is studying, learning, and applying. Adapt, overcome, and achieve.

Now.. though if you give a little more than you are asking for you can turn the key. I get wanting to consume our everything, but even if we open up the heaving in our hearts and let you be the things we could be to you it would appear you would still be some puppet on a string.

Spoiler

Not a lot of blood in a preschooler, though.
They don't call them "half-pints" for nothing, you know...

Programming computers is about solving problems.
Which is more likely to help you learn to solve problems - going out into the world and experiencing problems and solving them, or eating the same food that some programmer in New Jersey or Boston eats?

I had any number of jobs before I started programming seriously, and any one of them taught me more about being a good programmer than I've learned from any class or book on computers. If you haven't lived in the world, you won't be able to model it in your computer.

Not at all, look at it this way. By showing an active interest in programming and participating on boards such as this, you are already well above the average. There are software devs out there that know only the bare minimum to get by.

Realize by being here (the proverbial here), you are a better software developer than most.
