Should I start a Project Euler club at my college?

Posted 13 November 2012 - 08:27 PM

Project Euler has helped me to become interested in programming way beyond the stuff taught in school. Many projects on my portfolio were inspired by Project Euler problems, such as BigInt and Permutations.

I have noticed that too many CS majors at my school do not program at all, and there's no one I can team up with and create something cool.

I think it would be a good idea to start a Project Euler Club to do just that.

It would also look great on my resume.

"President of Project Euler Club"

What do you think? Has anyone ever done something similar?

i'd join if one was started at my school. By the way I'm looking for people to team up with as well for project euler and pythonchallenge. There's so much more we can accomplish as a team rather than individually. If interested in teaming up over the net, send me a message. We can use im or email or maybe even voice chat to communicate.

Problem being getting people interested. If you're fortunate you can find a few passionate people, and passionate people are like a beacon for others of the same type. It gets progressively harder the more obscure your college is.

Oh, and the loudest kid that always declares every bit of information he finds and evangelizes some hyper-elitism is not what you want. The kid in the back of the room building a 16-bit ALU in minecraft in the middle of class is more of what you want.

Personally, I think it would be cool to have. Like has been said above, though, you may have trouble populating something like that.
