Taking my first java course in college, with recent programming experience, I'm catching on good. Final projects are coming up and I wanted some ideas! Basically we have to create a game. Prefer a game with keyboard input, has a score, and we need 3 options (I was gonna do background, difficulty, and something else)

I'm looking for something that will wow the teacher, but as a student with a job, and other classes, it cant take up ALL of my time, though of course I am going to put it lots of time on this over the next month.

I know its my first java course, but I am the most advanced in my class, so I feel like I should do something challenging, and impressive within reason!

I was thinking about that, i figured it would be easy(ish) no one else has made that, and fun.

and no, is it something I could self teach?

I'm not sure what you studied but in my first Java course (programming methods 2), we learned LinkedLists at the end. If you're good at making Applets and decent in OOP, a snake game would be a nice final project, though very challenging depending on your level.
