You could just develop a touchscreen friendly web app. Then you don't have to choose.
Check out jQuery Mobile. It makes developing such web apps pretty easy.

If you also want your site to be accessible by the marketplace, you can create an app that's just a web browser pointed at the site. I know Apple has a policy against this but I'm unsure if they'll take it down if it's pointed towards a mobile-oriented site.
With Apple you'll need to have a mac to develop IIRC. With Android you can use anything that you can compile Java on.
Developing for iPhone costs $100/year, Android costs a one-time $35 fee. I'm unsure about royalties.

Google is $25 one time fee + %30 royalties. Apple is $99/year + (probably the same) royalties.
Just do an Android app, it's easier. You will use Java and XML.

You could check out Windows.
Keep in mind that Apple developers earn ~6x more than Android developers.

Where did you get those figures? That doesn't sound at all likely.

Android is far easier to get running fast. You can create emulators on much of any PC, you don't have to have a Mac, the phones don't have to be jailbroken to test things in a timely manner, and it's overall just less of a headache to get off the ground running.
Look into Eclipse for starting out.
