It's ironic that this is your objection, considering that we haven't yet got a way of measuring lines of code or even a hint of what this measurement would indicate about the code.
No, there isn't an equation which captures clarity. Nor can you quantify happiness, intelligence, or wisdom, but we still find those to be worthwhile goals, or at least worthwhile desiderata.
