Don't be such a neigh-sayer.
I went ahead and called Trend about my problem with Mighty Max 2012. I upgraded my Trend coverage to "Premium" for about $70, and a tech accessed my computer remotely to fix the problem. She uninstalled Mighty Max and did not find any viruses or malignant files. I suppose I could have resolved the situation more cheaply or for free. However, I don't consider myself an expert on these things. The $70 did not come from a tree in my back yard, but I was really concerned that some of the other computers I use might be contaminated. I wanted the situation resolved as quickly as possible, so I did what I did. I chalk it up to a learning experience and am thankful more damage wasn't done. No more free scans from pop-up ads.
