Tile map generator

Hi, i am making a tactical turn based strategy game for the android platform like UniWars, Battle for mars etc and i would like to add the feature to generate maps automatically. Are there any tutorials about this? Cause my algorithm for now do not produce so good results

Read up on 'procedurally generated levels'. Basically you have rules that govern what tiles fit best to each other.. how much water.. how many resources.. where resources typically are.. etc.. a bit of work up front but pays off in the end.

yes that is the idea but i would liek to know if there is a known algorithm based on fractals or somthing that produce beautifull fields etc because what i have invented sometimes generated weird results

No.. there's no "known algorithm" it is a pretty much custom bit regarding how your game operates and its world constraints.

You should check out Perlin noise, it should work great for what you are trying to do.

You should post a picture once you get something working! Being a fan of Heroes of Might and Magic 3, I love seeing random maps.
