THE bible of C, is called "The C Programming Language" by Kernighan and Richie - BUT it is a steep learning curve, although well written. More for intermediate students and above, unless your light bulb is like a searchlight in programming. (high aptitude).
Beyond the syntax and whatnot, this book demonstrates the spirit of C programming. You can almost feel it "leaking" out between the pages. It was a wonderful experience for me, for sure.
Otherwise, I believe any book by Stephen Prata or Ivor Horton's "Beginning C" is good. Horton's book was fantastic, but the publisher did a machine created index that SUCKS!
BTW, the earlier edition of The C Programming Language is on-line to read/study, and peruse. Google it.
