Hi,
i try today to install windows on my old laptop IBM R51, when i try to access boot menu and set priority, i can't to do that, my boot set priority menu is a locked(but i dont locked him), how is that possible?
I was install Windows XP before normally, now i cant to do that...
On screen right side, i have this message "All items on this menu cannot be modifed in user mode. If any items require changes, please consult your system Supervisor."
On screen left side, i have boot priority order(AND I CANT TO CHANGE THAT ORDER)
priority is sorted like this:
1: USB FDD:
2: Legacy Floppy Drives
3: ATAPI CDO:HL-DT-STDVD-ROM-********-
4: USB CD:
5: IDE HDDO: FUJITSU MHT2040AT v1217
6: PCI LAN:
7: USB HDD
8: IDE HDD1

Excluded from boot order:
IDE HDD2:
ATAPI CD1:

i was try F5/F6(that is for "change values"), F9(Setup Defaults), Up/Down but nothing...

You are absolutely, positively certain this is *YOUR* laptop, right? Not a schools? Not something you picked up on craigslist? Not something that "fell off the back of a truck"?

Generally to reset the password you need to pop the reserve battery. That's pretty involved.

Search for "IBM R51 bios password reset".

Laptop is mine, this laptop i was bought from some guy for some funny money i never before set any password, i was install Windows XP last year normally, but now i can't to do that, this laptop had Windows 7 first, but i replace Windows 7 with Windows XP because laptop has only 512 mb RAM memory now + 256, now my laptop is very slow, and has very much viruses that i must to remove current System..

I found some video on yt(it's same like that from ehow.com),
is this only way to solve this problem?
Because i don't know computer hardware, i'm for software dev

What error are you getting when trying to install XP? The boot sequence that you have listed shouldn't prevent you from loading/reloading XP. The key is the system should try the CD/DVD before it hits the harddrive. This means you should be able to boot from the XP cd and load it without any problems. There may be a hardware failure that may come up that would be preventing you from doing an OS load. I would recommend that you have all of the drivers downloaded and uncompressed onto a cd prior to starting the XP loading process. I would also recommend you have a version of XP that has Service Pack 3 included with the build. This will help you a great deal with loading drivers and generally getting the machine loaded. If you don't have a version of XP that has service pack 3 included, make sure you download the entire 300meg Service pack 3 file from Microsoft prior to starting the load process. I would recommend the first driver that you load be the Chipset driver. I would recommend you load the network driver after the Chipset driver. This will allow you to get drivers from the web while loading the rest of the drivers.
If you are wanting to get past any BIOS passwords that are on the laptop then you are up a creek. I have never known anybody to get anykind of super password from IBM/Lenovo to allow you to get by these passwords. If it were a Dell, once you prove ownership Dell can provide a super password to get around any BIOS passwords. I have seen adds where advertise services to get by the BIOS passwords on IBM/Lenovo laptops. Normally it involves you sending the laptop to them and then they will either remove the password and send it back or they will send the laptop back to you with a form that has the current password listed on it.
Excluding any actual hardware errors you should be able to load/reload XP.
