No. There are many changes especially to security, access to the registry and so on. So many programs break if they try to something that violates the new security or access policies.

When I started this I wasn't talking about general apps. WHen I say Windows 8 apps I mean apps that can be published to the store. These are not Windows 7 compatible.

Store apps are such a small percentage of total apps - limiting the thread to that is going to make it pretty empty.

When you look at developers in general its a small group that are independent and selling under that model. Most are employed by someone else and therefore building applications for that employer. Maybe its a Point of Sale system maker, or a security camera system integrator, or whatever. But sales on the Win Store while not small in number are minute compared to the total number of apps made.

And none of that even takes into account someone that develops has a hobby just for their own use for anything from their personal weather station controller to a limited GUI for their kid to access their home media center.

Hey there, not sure what your question is. I am writing a windows store app right now, and yes I usually refer to it as a windows 8 app not a windows store app, and call the non-store apps desktop apps. Not sure if that makes the most sense or not but it seems to be the way microsoft refers to things so why not be consistent.

Anyway, I am almost done with the app so kinda know my way around. Do you have a specific question?
