In the summer I received a text from a number I didn't recognize. I've been randomly updating this person (who from what I can tell lives in DC). They have not yet acknowledged that they have the wrong number. They get updates when I go to concerts, see a movie, go to a party or gathering. Just life non-important details.
I have gotten calls from unknown numbers asking me if I had a sister (which I dont, btw), calls from drunks saying they are lost and to come pick them up and once a guy asking me not to answer when he calls again because apparently, he really liked my caller tune and wanted to listen to it. I answered. Twice.
So my buddy and I just went on a random road trip over the weekend. Tuesday last week I got antsy and decided I had to hit the road, and we got in my car and started driving. Around north Florida we chose Centralia, PA as our final destination with some stops in between to visit my gram and check out some state/national parks.
So Centralia is this town in Pennsylvania outside of Frakville off I-81 that had a coal mine which started on fire back in 1962 and has burning ever since (Some pennsylvanians here probably heard of it). Several years back my friends and I heard of it via the internet and "Silent Hill"... of course. We always said we'd check it out, but always forgot to. So this time we tookt he time to do it.
So while there we checked out several different spots, including a section of highway that had to be rerouted as it was crumbling away as the fire burned underneath it. I guess a bunch of kids, like ourselves, visit this spot and grafitti the hell out of it.
While walking down the street there's all sorts of crap painted about the place, including the classic "I'm a slut, call ###-###-####". To which my buddy called one of, and got no answer. He wanted to act like an idiot and say lude things, but it didn't go through.
Well 20 minutes later the person calls back, and the joke long gone for us, he just explained why he had called and where he found the number.
They're now friends.
I couldn't peel him away from his damn phone for the next 5 hours.
I got a voice mail from a Colorado police department asking to speak to some lady I'd never heard of. I tried calling back to tell them they called the wrong number as I was worried it might be important but they never picked up.
