make a simple word factory in vb 10, is it possible?

Posted 02 December 2012 - 04:59 AM

I am beginner in vb 10 and I planned to create a game in vb which is word factory.
but i don't know where to start. the only flow that i think is there should be a dictionary text file. then in vb from there are tiles of picture boxes that contain letter images. then if the letters are clicked, there will be a string variable that holds the value of clicked letter and read in file dictionary text file. then the score will increase if the sequence of clicked letter images are valid word in the dictionary file. may be it is possible but i don't know how to make it. do you have an idea on how to do this? even the flow of this game.

It sounds like you have an outline of a plan. The next step is to write down (or type in) all these things (call them tasks), each on a separate line, and then try to think of what you need to do for each task, and put those in under each task as appropriate.

Once you get down to the simplest steps, you will want to try writing some code to handle each sub-task.

Example for one task:
  • Tiles of pictureboxes for each task
    • make pictureboxes
      • Make them all the same size
      • Put them on a form in the right layout
      • Put pictures into them

And there you go. Some simple tasks to start with. Try writing some code that implements the tiles, and then think about how to use them.
