How do you stop a WebBrowser object in WPF?

The stop method is not an option becasue that is only available in windows forms.

And Dispose does not seem to be the answer either.

Have you tried setting the Source property to null?

Even that does not prevent the LoadUpdated method from being fired, albeit, when it does, the Source is null:
