creating my own outlook express

i m mking my own email client lik outlook express. i jst wnt to ask hw cn i get connected to gmail pop3 port(995) ,yahoo pop3(110). server is nt responding . do i nid to do sm more settings or do i nid to tk permission form gmail. i did settings n my accout for enabling pop3 .
plz plz help me
