27 people shot dead at CT school, mostly kids!
Posted 14 December 2012 - 11:16 AM
Unbelievable. Two gunmen shot up a school in Newton, CT. this morning. 18 confirmed children dead. Letting anyone with a pulse walk around with a loaded weapon is a terrible idea. This is only going to get worse!

Same here. All schools are wide open. You walk in and have to sign in at the office via the honor system.
I don't want to take anyone's guns away, but It's time for mandatory gun training and yearly psych evaluations for gun ownership. We do it for law enforcement before they are allowed to carry, so why is the general public any different?

Hey, let's not get political while the bodies are still warm. Have some respect; don't use their bodies as your soap box.

Well I feel bad for them but the guns didnt kill the kids the idiot shooter did. Even if he didnt have a gun, I am sure he would have found another way of doing it.

At this point, I'd rather they did try with something else. It's way too easy to kill 18 5 year olds with the guns they had...

Deeply saddened to hear about such things going on in the world
People can rant and rave all they want, but gun bans would not put an end to such events. It would simply change the weapons used. It's been shown again and again, Australia gun control, Meth, etc. Banning does nothing to the criminals, just helps corral the sheep who would normally obey the laws anyway.
Everyone walks around each day feeling so safe and secure. Then events like this occur and those people are suddenly so shocked. The safety bubble is nothing more than a mental feeling and a show done for sake of paperwork.

No one suggested a ban on guns, and I am most certainly NOT for banning guns, but a ban properly enforced would most certainly keep guns out of the hands of criminals. Again, the law has to be properly enforced, unlike current drug and immigration laws in the U.S. that aren't taken seriously. Same was the case for prohibition in the 20s. How do you ban booze when all someone needed was an apple tree in the back yard with which to make wacky cider? Go and try to buy some plutonium or a missile launcher - Criminal or not, you're not going to get it, and if by some crazy chance you do, you won't have it for long.

Aye. Gun control laws in the US would be about as effective as Explosive control laws in Afghanistan. You'd still have madmen blowing themselves up all over people.
