The problem is that it makes it casual and ordinary to use these derogatory remarks and thus gives the unnecessary hatred room to grow. "fag" and "jewish" aren't even used on things that are actually homosexual or of the Jewish religion, so it also shows a lack of imagination in insults.

Does it offend me in particular? Not any more or less than any other enemy would, so it's all the same trash to me. But using them makes you appear to have the maturity of a 13-year old.

Sergio's opinions remind me of the Lionel Messi racist stories, he maintained that in South America racial slurs were terms of endearment. Actually so did Luiz Suarez. I used to say "gay" a lot. I always said I thought of it like how Luis CK put it... "When I call someone a faggot I don't mean it because I think they're homosexual, I say it because they're being a faggot!" (paraphrasing). Then I listened to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' song "Same Love", which had the lyrics:

Pretty much what this said to me was that it doesn't matter what you mean when you say something, you also have to consider what other people will think of it. Not everyone thinks just like you. Jewish people will probably take a little bit more offense to "jew" jokes than non-jewish people, same with gay people. And people seem to forget that's what homosexual people are, they're gay people. But because people keep on use the word "gay" in negative light, it puts gay people under the same light.

tl;dr when you say something bad is gay, you are associating gay people with bad things.

The last time I heard these insults used, Sergio, was in high school. I tend to agree with sloth and modi. We're all adults here, not 15 year old kids with self-esteem issues.
