google analytics hitch w/ga.js today?

Sort of grasping at straws here, but we had a weird and severe slowdown this afternoon on the in-progress web site, affecting both QA and dev environments. There was a common thread, in that in both cases it looks like it might be tied to a remote call to gs.js
Did anyone else notice anything weird today with google analytics or google-analytics.com/ga.js? Slowdown started at ~3:20, and resolved around 4:10, east coast time.

(yes, I'm going to point out that we should have that script served locally)

We haven't tracked an issue with it today.. their blog hasn't mentioned anything about an update.... so sun spots?

It might be my industry but we typically refer to them as "shatner's gremlins".
