So MS is killing off their Expression suite.
What do you guys think it would take to get them to open source it?

A few billion dollars, perhaps. Though I doubt even that would do the trick. Something tells me they don't want the private code bases out there for all the anti-Microsoft people to pick through, pointing out flaws.

I've never even heard of Expression Studio before reading this... so umm, not missed?

Some of the key features of the expression studio (for example Blend) are available in Visual Studio 2012. Just FYI.
