Stepmom got me a Hello Kitty laptop bag. Sadly it's too small for my laptop.

Your laptop needs to go on a diet.

It's been said that some people enjoy a tight fit when inserting their laptop into a hello kity bag. Some like a more loose fit.

Tight isn't always better...if it's too tight it could apply too much tension upon the screen causing it to crack and go soft.

I just got back from a 7 day Caribbean cruise that was my Christmas present. Hit up some islands. Snorkled with some fish. Cut a rug at the all white[clothing] party.

Whoooo!

Yes, I am still pale; I believe in the importance of sunblock.

Also a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

Wife treats me well, she does.

Skint - British for broke according to google. They really need to make a British-to-Mrcn translator. Lol.

At my grandmas I got a tin of homemade cookies and some wall sconces.

Shouldn't that be "a tin of homemadee biscuits"?

Oh one last thing to add to this - for my birthday Pops found a dvd 4pack that contained: Dune, Flash Gorden, Battlestar Galactica, and wait for it.. wait for it.. The Last Star Fighter. Whooowhoo! If it would have wedged 'Enemy Mine' in there I would have keeled over.

Did you consume as much chicken wings and liquor as I did? I drank one in your honor too.

Naw.. a few tacos and mostly liquids... the flu knocked out my sense of smell (which of course jacks up the sense of taste) so I had my sister sniffing shots given to me.. until she started making side cash off misdirecting me. Either way - Team Modi = win.

I hope yours was filled with decent shots and some of the finest malt liquors pocket change could find!

I got some warm running clothes, because apparently it gets cold in Boston. At some point. Allegedly.

I also got a stack of books I'd asked for:
  • Programming Concurrency on the JVM
  • Practical VIM
  • tmux
  • The Joy of Clojure

For my annual self-gift, I purchased "Javascript: The Good Parts."

I also received lots of fiction ebooks, so I need to get my act together and knock out some reading.

You're still out of town? You missed the snow.

Would that be Programming in Scala, then? :)
Seriously, one of the things that I'm really interested in about scala is the work they've done to make concurrency transparent. I've got a few experiments I want to do with this, as soon as I make the time. I'm intrigued by the idea of writing classes in Java and controlling them with little Scala classes.

I'll throw in my two cents. . . For Christmas I got 4 books. Two of them are written by the famous Kevin Mitnick (stories about his and others hacking adventures), one is about the Python language, and the other is a book not about any specific language but geared toward all languages. I also got some clothes and shampoo and body wash and money. With the money I bought the books, a video card, two things to convert the dvi slots in my video card to vga (so I can rock two monitors :)), a power strip, and some headphones with a built in mic.
