Disappearing Insertion Cursor

Posted 25 December 2012 - 05:11 PM

The reply and create new topic text boxes for DIC have their blinking cursors disapear after a certain amount of time, usually 30 seconds to a few minutes. The result is that you cannot see where your characters will appear.

Ths does not just happen here but also on physicsforums.com.

I've tested this with Internet explorer 9 in Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit service pack 1.

This sounds more like a flaw in the browser than a problem with the website. I don't believe website code can even hide the write cursor; it's something it has no control over. (Short of creating a "virtual" textarea using HTML, which is not done here.)

I'd suggest using a better browser. Like Chrome, Firefox or Opera. You can also get a preview release of IE10 for Win7 now, which is a big step up from IE9. Though, I wouldn't exactly recommend pre-release versions for general use.

I know in firefox and IE if you hit the 'f7' that turns on and off caret browsing... Typically I enjoy it off but to each their own.
