I've moved this question to the Software Support forum. It's not really a database question; it's about the IDE software.

Is there a reason you need this set up like that? I don't know much about Dreamweaver, as I avoid it like the plague, but seeing as you've already got the XAMPP set up and working properly, with phpMyAdmin to manage the database, is there really any need for Dreamweaver to connect to the database or be aware of the server paths/urls?

No, tell me any other way through which I could use mysql database in my website. I just want my website to get connected to mysql database so that when I write any Mysql queries it doesn't give me error.

Will notepad work for this purpose

@Prince1506, the thing you have to understand is that you are asking a group of developers about setting up a WISIWYG program.

It's like asking formula 1 mechanics how to make their hybrid more fuel efficient.

The other way is to install Apache & Mysql, the way it's normally done. Dunno how DreamWeaver handles a live, functional website. My understanding of DreamWeaver is that it allows you to edit html, & show you it in functionality through a web browser.

DW forum may be your best bet - not many developers here will use DW.

css & html are client side languages & don't have access to any database.

I think before you can choose your IDE, you need to better understand client side vs server side execution in web development.

You need to know how to program in server-side languages like PHP to use a database like MySQL for your sites. Just knowing HTML and CSS, and setting up an IDE like Dreamweaver, won't get you anywhere. I hear Dreamweaver has some wizards and stuff that (supposedly) helps developers quickly get PHP/MySQL code set up, but if you don't know how it works, it won't do you any good. The are programming tools, used by programmers.

If you want to add database driven content to your site, I suggest you get rid of Dreamweaver (for this part of the process, at lest), and learn the basics of PHP using an editor like Notepad++. It's not a complicated programming language, and you can get started with PHP and MySQL development pretty quickly if you put some effort into it.
