If you want to learn AI and want to make it fun, try this

Posted 01 January 2013 - 02:41 AM

I found out about this game, Robocode, that implements .NET languages (framework 2.0) and Java (java 6) to work out AIs.

I think we should have a tournament on here, just for the sake of messing with this side of programming.

Nothing big, not a question, probably not posting in the right place, but I thought I'd share this with you.

Happy new year!

Looks to be different things. Robocode sounds like fun and doesn't require a beefy machine.

I think "Roborumble" is for beefier machines, but Robocode definitely isn't. I'm going to look into it now, as I have read enough documentation to get started.

I'd love to see if anyone else in here joins the fun too

Once you get past the mechanics of moving your tank, its radar, and its turret, then it becomes almost a pure AI problem for:
- determining tank moves for attack or evasion
- strategies for monitoring your environment
- targeting
- resource management of energy: fire power vs remaining power vs stealth
