Difference between 'blabla' and "blabla"?

Posted 07 January 2013 - 01:20 PM

Might be a stupid question, but I've never given this much thought so I was just wondering.

I'm reading a CSS book(Beginning CSS Web Development: From Novice To Professional by Simon Collison) and this is one of the examples he uses:

<link rel='stylesheet' media="screen" type='text/css' href='float.css' />

Why does he use ' ' around everything except "screen"? Does it have different effects or is it just to make the code prettier?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Probably just a missed style.. I tend to use a double-quote (and not tick marks) when setting values in HTML.

It makes no difference. In HTML5 you can even omit them (for a single word) although I would advise against this. I always use "double quotes" consistently.

Yeah, I always use double-quotes, was just wondering if it had any effect on my code, or if it was wrong :P

It's not wrong - but it just accomplishes the same thing.

I don't know the difference between single code and double code but I ever used double code and preferred it to use.
