I have to say, after running some benchmarks and weighing up ease of use/implementation, I also agree with the model RudiVisser puts forward. I'm currently rewriting large parts of my framework and application so that it parses templates rather than interprets and replaces, which will blow out my delivery date by about 3 weeks on the latest project, but it's worth it in the end.
