The euro sign and utf-8 validation error

Posted 14 January 2013 - 04:56 AM

So im having a problem with the euro sign on some pages of a site im working on the funny thing is its only some pages, i have one page with a very similar layout that is completely validated and others which throw back this message

"Sorry, I am unable to validate this document because on line 79 it contained one or more bytes that I cannot interpret as utf-8 (in other words, the bytes found are not valid values in the specified Character Encoding). Please check both the content of the file and the character encoding indication.
The error was: utf8 "\x80" does not map to Unicode"

now the line 79 its reffering to is just this
24.00

any ideas ?

i checked my code again after trying to test it and the euro signs had been replaced by x80 i think or something similar, i just replaced that code with the € again and it worked fine.
