Hi all,

I'm trying to get git working on aws ec2 ubuntu server micro install. Here's what I'm trying to do:

• Create multiple git repos (at least I think)
  
• Have it initially accessable by only me, but able to be expanded for future developers
  
• I need to be able to work on it from 2 different computers
  
• Still be in the free usage tier of aws

This is what I've been using to get started. How do I do this exactly? I'm new to git and aws, but I did manage to get git installed on my desktop and on the server, I just don't know how to connect the two and do so securely with ssh.

What stage are you at now? Did you install aws server? Make sure you open ports on AWS firewall too.

Yes, I opened the ports for aws and did manage to get a connection between the two. I haven't done much with it lately, but I do want to use it still.

I don't think I got ssh to work correctly I think that it was just regular ftp.

I'll have to take a look at it again soon.

I'd recommend starting here so your server is locked down. Generally you should only allow ssh access, and only through public key authentication.
