No. It could be worse. It could be Dungeons and Dragons, the movie.

Peter Jackson's just wrapping up with those, isn't he?

Now, if Snoop Dog was a troll ( because they're all faux rastas ) it would worth it for that alone.

I thought he was Snoop Lion now and he does look like a troll I would create.

Hey! That film was so cheesey it was great! Especially the Crystal Maze part :P

On the other hand, D&D2 was much better, and was a lot more like an actual game of D&D.

Wait, I haven't seen it. Does the cast occasionally have to wait while the DM rolls some dice and consults the manual?

Basically, Jeremy Irons has way too much fun chewing the entire set.

At least it's not Uwe Boll...

And yet, that's exactly who I'd expect to do it.

Strangely, my netflix last night had "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale" up on the queue. I mean, you know it's going to suck, but it had Jason Statham as the lead. Ron Perlman, Ray Liotta, Burt Reynolds?!? This should probably have been a clue. Credits fire up: Uwe Boll!

Well, it's based on a video game, so chances are it's Boll. Also, and this is the strangest thing about his prolific train wrecks, it has actors you recognize! I am convinced Boll has a damning, career ending, private video collection that he uses to blackmail half of hollywood into actually getting his movies made.

On a side note, the movie didn't completely suck. I mean, not great, but not "omg, why the hell did I do that to myself" either. So, um, "good" for Uwe Boll.

This is a rumor and I don't know if it's true (anyone can debunk/confirm this?), but he uses German tax loopholes so that even if the movie bombs, he still somehow makes money.

Doubtless. They all do, though.

Did you know the guy who wrote Forest Gump didn't get any royalties from the movie? The studio claimed the movie lost money! More here: http://www.nytimes.c...rofits-hmm.html

I once read an interesting financial article on how studios do this kind of thing. ( Can't find it now. ) They basically set up an entirely new company for each production, to isolate if from the parent company. Those "companies" often go bankrupt. They actually call it "Hollywood accounting."

But In the Name of the King was actually a good movie. I didn't really see any resemblance towards the game, but Jason Statham is my husbando, so I don't care.

I still think they should have accepted Uwe Boll's offer to direct.

But they should have put him in charge of the MMO. Then it might have been awesome.

(Have you seen his non-game related movies? Surprisingly good)

Right, Uwe Boll and "surprisingly good" simply do not exist in this reality. Then again, if you set the bar real, real low, then anything can be surprisingly good. I'll admit, I will watch an Uwe Boll film and will occasionally think surprisingly not awful.

You have an example?

( Note, this isn't entirely off topic. When talking about movies destined to suck, well, Uwe is an authority. )

Yup, and here's the killer: Even though we know they are going to suck before we even watch them, we still watch them!

Uwe Boll (Ewie Ball as my wife calls him) directs the films that we all wanted to see made anyways, he just does it badly.

Now, I'd personally like to see a few Elder Scrolls movies be made, but that's just my opinion. Anyone up for a Minecraft movie? LOL.
