Microsoft SQL Server #1 In Industry

Posted 31 July 2007 - 09:43 PM

2007 Database and Data Access, Integration and Reporting Study shows that Microsoft SQL Server is still the most widely used Database Server in the IT Industry, accounting for over 74% of all servers running.

Let the Oracle vs MSSQL Debate begin :P

<edit>I cant believe Access is #3 on the list with over 54%</edit>

I won't throw any fuel on the fire, but in that survey, more small to medium businesses are surveyed than large enterprise grade companies. Most large scale operations (and I mean large, like your AT&T's, etc...) will use Oracle for their main DB background infrastructure.

We can also see in the survey the downward tending of SQL Server, even among SMB customers.

Microsoft use Oracle for a number of things :)
