I am new to the forum so please excuse the lengthy post.
I am taking a programming class and the computers we use in class have Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition. On my personal computer I have Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Express Edition. I can make a 2008 to 2010 but not the other way around. I can not install 2010 on the computers because they have drive shield on them. I tried to install 2010 on a external hard drive but then I got an error that a .dll was missing. My guess is that the .dll was installed on the computer and was then deleted by Drive Shield. My question is, is there a way to get Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Express Edition on a external hard drive? Thank you.
How can I get MSVB on a external hard drive?

Seems unlikely.
Why don't you just install 2008 express on your personal computer? They can run side-by-side. Get the installer from the school IT person: Its a free edition so it shouldn't be a problem.
You're going to have to turn in projects as 2008 anyway so you're teacher and run and grade them.

First of all thank you for the speedy response(this was my first post so I thought it would take a while to get a response).
I will most likely get my teacher to install 2010 on the computers. But another issue is that I have a project that I am in the middle of and it is a 2010 project. Do you know if there is a way to port the project from 2010 to 2008?

Install 2008... create a blank solution in 2008.. copy all your files from the 2012 solution (.vb files, etc) into the 2008 blank project.. in your blank project right click-> add existing items.. and select those files..
