import data from excel 2010 to sqlexpress(vb.net windows application)

Hi Everyone,

hmmmm i have informations in an excel spreasheet and i wanna import all the inforamtion form excel into my database.how can i do that?

The first step is to forget the database for now. The first step is reading the data from the Excel sheet.

Thanks for your reply TheKirk....my question will sound very stupid but i wanna know where do i put the code to do the import because at this point i only have my DB and the infos that need to be put in that DB but they are in excel worsheet so what is my very first point to start and how do i start...

well, do you want to use Excel VBA or VB.NET? If you want VBA , move the question in VB6 section.
For VB.NET:
-create a new Windows Forms Application
- add a button to the form
- double click the button
- write the code

Next step:
- get the path of the Excel file
- use TheKirk's link to read from Excel
- look in tutorial section for a basic example of working with ADO.NET.
- if you get stuck with a piece of code, come back with a question and we will help you from that point.
