PayPal IPN/buy now button?

Posted 22 February 2013 - 07:16 PM

Okay, i'm not new to the PayPal IPN I know how it works fine. However I am new to how there buy now buttons work.

I am working on a project and I need to make the price on the spot so I can't use a premade button as I normally would.

So I am having to make a button and put the price in.

<form name="_xclick" action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post">
<input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_xclick">
<input type="hidden" name="business" value="{$email}">
<input type="hidden" name="currency_code" value="{$cur}">
<input type="hidden" name="item_name" value="BTer">
<input type="hidden" name="amount" value="{$price}">
<input type="image" src="http://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_buynow_LG.gif" border="0" name="submit" alt="Make payments with PayPal - it\'s fast, free and secure!">
</form>

However, for some reason it isn't sending to my IPN and I have no clue why. Any help would be good thanks!

What does this look like in the browser source, after the values are supposed to have been injected into it?

Looks like the normal PayPal buy now button, I click it takes me to paypal and everything. It just doesn't send to the IPN.

So in the HTML you posted, all the variables are replaced correctly?

For the record, I know nothing about the specifics of PayPal or IPN, so beyond general advice about your PHP code, I can't really tell you much. If there is something missing from that form that those APIs require, I wouldn't know about it. That you'd have to get from their documentation or support staff.

Yes it does fine, thanks for your help. I'll probably ring PayPal up tomorrow then.
