D.I.C slow?

Posted 28 February 2013 - 06:55 AM

Over the past few days (week?), I've noticed that trying to access D.I.C. has been slower than normal. Chrome's spinner's have been doing a lot of spinning lately.

Does the database need re-indexing or compaction? Do funds need to be raised to fire up another web front end server?

It is DOG slow. Riddled with timeouts, no responses, and content-encoding errors. With NoScript and FlashBlock activated as well. Perhaps the slowest site on the Internet for me.

I don't think it speaks well for the CDN in use, but I can't be sure it's that solely in their lap.

The speed along with all the timeout messages is making it painful to view the site, you would think someone in the know would be looking into the problems, yet???

Sometimes it so happens that you see that you are the only one posting the answer...and when you click on 'post' button, the spinner spins and spins...and after what seems like an eternity, the answer gets posted...surprisingly, you see that 2 other people have posted before you :P

I hope the concerned personnel take a look and resolve the problem soon :)

regards,
Raghav

On a related note, what is the status of the oft rumored software update? Maybe it's time to put that on the front burner to hopefully solve some of the many other issues with the site.

Yes, the site is painfully slow. I'm blaming it on the ads, and the massive amount of crap that's loaded.

Now that I've complained, it seems like the site is working faster now...

Maybe the management bought some of the creams and potions, advertised in the spam. To make DIC last longer.

This site has at times been so slow to be painful, most other times it is just plain slow. Along with the crawl there are also so many timeout errors, and other site related errors that I have found myself looking at other programming sites to help, and therefore spending less and less time viewing this board. If these problems are not solved I may stop visiting altogether.
