No one bats an eyelash to it at all.

I've been arrested for resisting oh... 10 times I think. First time was when I was 13. I had moved to Florida from Connecticut. In Connecticut the helmet law for bicycles was 13, Florida it was 16. I did not know Florida law.

Spoiler

Sorry, I'm ranting, I hate cops.

Bwahaha, DHS. What a worthless organization headed by a tool.

So you just say yes to pass? What kind of security theater is this? How are any of those overweight mofos going to catch a perp? I don't recognize the uniforms either.

This is the only sentence you'll ever need: "If it is your intention to arrest and/or detain me I request/am going to immediately call my lawyer". Done.

You can thank the HomeLand Security Act of 2002, signed into law By George W. Bush and his Republican congress for the DHS.

You have the right to not answer their questions, just as you have the right to not answer any questions from anyone. They know this.

You cannot claim on one hand that you want to do everything possible to secure the border to prevent illegal immigration, but then get your panties all bunched up when immigration officers attempt to do just that. They should be searching every car, regardless. It happens at airports, so what makes road travel into the country any different?

It's actually the Border Patrol and those interior checkpoints have been around since at least the mid-1970s.

What's more, this has already gone to the SCOTUS (back in 1976!) and they came back saying what the Border Patrol is doing is consistent with the 4th Amendment...so yeah, 4th Amendment has already been used as toilet paper for quite some time now. Great.

And the DHS? Yeah, the legislation establishing that department passed the House by something called unanimous consent which means no member objected to the passage. Passed the senate with a 40-9 vote as well. So yeah, Republican congress...but nearly every Democrat in the Congress voted for it as well.

Trying to make its creation a political football fails on lots of levels.

You appear to like to do this rather frequently.

Set up these absolute statements as strawmen (do everything possible to secure the border), and then knock them down.

You aren't convincing any of us with that statement because none of us said that we should do "everything possible to secure the border". I bet most of us, if we believe in securing the border (not all of us may), would say something like. "Do everything possible, with out breaching our individual rights, to secure the border".

4409 is the best guy ever for this type of thing..

4409's Youtube Channel

He calls them "Pirates", as do I.

Because people like Jon Kiparsky are so good at saying things to people who do other things for a living, we're losing our rights almost as fast as we're losing money. At the end of the day, you can tell if someone is a nazi if they want to restrict your freedom. Regardless of how nice they dress, how well they speak, how valid their arguments are, and so on... If they're trying to sell you less freedom, you know they're nazis. Unfortunately, there are LOTS of nazis these days.

I'm pretty sure to know if they're a nazi you'd need to confirm if they're party of the German Socialist Nazi Party.

Otherwise you're using it as a pejorative... in which case what you just said is like saying, "At the end of the day, you can tell if someone is an asshole if they are a dick to you. Regardless of how nice they dress, how well the speak, how valid their arguments are, and so on..."

Well, is that so, I didn't know that.

Next will you start redefining socialist so we can call every politician we don't like a socialist as well?

Of course I'm using the term "Nazi" wrong. That's the point.

It's obvious what I mean, but I receive no credit.

@LOD: Really? You think I'd call nazis anything but nazis? Nope.. if they're of the people-on-training eugenics practicing spying-on-everyoneing papers-pleasing disarming-peopleing dissenter-disappearing variety, then they're nazis and nothing but nazis.

the only thing that's obvious is how you manage to take every thread from something on topic and useful and turn it into a toxic shit barrel with your idiocy.

Sorry, man. I didn't mean to straw man anyone. "You" is meant as the public in general, as in a majority of the public wants the gov't to do everything it can to prevent illegal immigration. Poll after poll tells us this.

Maybe you and I watched different videos. No one was arrested. They seem to have been just asked a few tough questions, and when they resisted answering as per their right to do so, they were let go. Most of them were even told they weren't being detained. While it may be annoying, a few tough questions which you are not even legally obligated to answer is not a violation of your rights. I am glad they're grilling people instead of just immediately just taking their word for everything. How else would you catch illegal activity?

I just want to know how I got wrapped up in this... whose rights am I taking away by saying things to people who do other things for a living? And what other things do they do for a living? And who are they anyway? And what does any of that have to do with glorified mall guards stopping vehicles without cause and interrogating their drivers?

Do I really want to know? Probably not...
