meh... I know for a fact that half of those are spam accounts. Not nearly that exciting anymore to tell you the truth.

I sincerely hope there are more real people(active) than spam accounts.

I gotta admit, 600,000 members sounds like a dubious claim. I wonder how many regularly active members we have?

I would probably say we have 300k actual accounts created by people, probably a couple hundred thousand actually made more than one post, but low thousands who have made more than like 5 posts or posted over multiple days (actually looking it up it looks like a little over 26k people have more than 5 posts). When you think of it at any given moment you have between 2k-5k guests online and those are usually supported by the same 100-300 regular members.
So those numbers are quite out of whack. If we really had a large regular user base here, you wouldn't be seeing the same 20-30 people as the top reputation earners. You would have much more people breaking into the top 20.
Just a few things I have noticed during my time here.

Very true...I seem to notice that too...there are a very few members who volunteer day in and day out giving their valuable suggestions and hence, they are the ones earning the max rep points. The majority of the members come to the forums mainly to ask questions...and once they get the solution to their questions, they go offline for a long time and only resurface when they have another question to ask.
regards,
Raghav
