My Woot TV
Posted 11 August 2007 - 10:06 AM
Got my new TV in from Woot last week, ordered a wall mount and new cables from monoprice.com, bought a new component stand from a local electronics place, and switched from Dish to DirecTV HD

Oh, and the first person to 1) make fun of me for watching nascar 2) say nascar isn't a sport or 3) make any reference to left/right turns will die.

PsychoCoder, to answer your question in the other thread.
I'm running a 46" Westinghouse LCD, DirecTV HD20 Tivo receiver, Pioneer 7.1 600 watt receiver with a 5.1 infinity speaker set.
Edit: wrong TV size

Infinity rocks, they make excellent speakers. I have the 2 huge speakers that came with my stereo, then I bought a set of Pioneer surround sound speakers for it.
Makes watching movies awesome

My mom blew a set of Infinity-s in her Jeep. They were so nice but it seems like maybe they don't last under strain very well. skyhawk, very nice. I made decent money this summer and now I'm thinking about buying a 37" for my dorm, but that might be overkill.

As you can probably tell, that 46" is WAY overkill for this size room, but it's nice... might be a tad big, but looks great and makes watching TV very enjoyable.

Very nice setup, I thought about getting a wall mount for my 32'' but I don't have a nice open spot like you do there. Looks perfect on top of the fireplace there.
I like the replacement to the that rocking chair too!

Talking of overkill. The maddest thing I've ever seen was a few years ago now. I went to this guys house as he was selling a laptop. In his living room he had a roll down screen that took up the entire of one side of the room with a ceiling mounted projector, proper cinema setup. It was so big you literally had to turn your head from full left to full right to see what was going on. He must have missed loads of little details from TV shows and movies where he was looking at the other end.
I like big tvs but I like to be able to see the whole screen at once. When I first walked in he was watching a soap and it was a closeup on one of the characters. This guys head was taller than me, that's how big the screen was.
