Trying to get myself back into the gym routine. I had planned to kickstart again on Monday but a surprise cold appeared and then completely shut me down yesterday. Debating if I'm in good enough condition yet to go tonight :/

Working on improving my diet as I've been sluggish as hell recently - falling asleep at my desk almost daily... started having intense cravings for fruits and veggies. That's when I realized it's been literally MONTHS since I last consumed anything resembling a fruit or vegetable.

I've started adding fresh fruit to my morning oatmeal and bringing a side salad to go with my soup at lunch... and celery with peanut butter for an afternoon snack (love, love, LOVE celery and peanut butter). It is absolutely amazing the difference I've seen in the past week! I haven't dozed off at my desk even once!

Who knew?!

I like to start the day off with a protein shake, a glass of V8 juice, an apple, and one or two bananas on the way to work.

I had a sausage egg and cheese bagel, hash brown, hazelnut ice capp, and a fruit explosion. That's right, I discovered Tim Hortons. I had gained about 5 lbs back last month, but I've already lost 1. :/ (despite the TH)

Story time,

Be me.
Be Saturday night.
Go out, burger joint and a movie.
Fast forward 12 hours.
Food poisoning from the burger joint.

Then 209lbs
Now 198lbs

Still can't really eat a proper meal but today was the first day back at the gym since then. Strength is kind of returning but no where near what it was two weeks ago.

Meal plan is normally as follows:
(note all protein shakes are 4 scoops, 700 cal, 52g)

8:00 pharmagreens shake in the morning as soon as I am out of bed.
9:30 protein shake
10:30 banana, some oatmeal and juice.
12:00 usually: couple pieces of pizza and a bagel sammich
4:00 snack; bagel with butter usually
5:15 pre workout shake (2 scoops of c40)
7:30 protein shake post gym
8-9:00 usually a pound of beef or chicken with 2-3 cups of vegetables or a spinach salad.
9-11:00 protein shake
11:30 le snooze

5:30am - Coffee: strong. black. bitter.
9:00am - Oatmeal with fresh fruit
10:30am - String cheese
1:00pm - Soup and salad
3:00pm - Celery with peanut butter
6:00pm - Remnants of dinner

I also keep Cheez-Its and Teddy Grahams in my desk for those days when I NEED a little extra food. The reason for Cheez-Its and Teddy Grahams, specifically, is that I'm not overly fond of either of them - they're scraping the bottom of the edibility barrel - so the temptation isn't there to indulge in them unless I'm really, really dying for an extra snack.

I can't have any snacks that I would willingly eat with me, or I will lack the willpower to prevent myself from eating them all. Without fail.

Personally, I've never found it that hard to keep fit and in shape, though my earlier (and cut short) career in the Royal Navy may have something to do with that.

0600 - Wake up, banana and drink of water
0610 - Off for a run.
0640 - Shower, toast/cereal and coffee
0700 - relax, check emails etc.
0730 - Bus to work
0830 - Start Work
1730 - Leave work
1810 - Food
1900 - Exercise dependant on day of week
2000 - Relax + Games etc
2200 - Sleep

It can really help to actually sit down, and plan out your day/week. You'll find it a lot easier to work out when you can relax and when you should be doing something.

Sorry - it's been a bit of time since I was able to get a solid update. I've been puttering around, but making gains (a bet slowly) in the slimm'n down department so that's a positive. It's been an odd cycle of trying to carve out the hour or so at the gym two to three times a week.. and there's been a string of 'one a week's that I am not happy with.

I may need to buckle down and either set more hard line boundaries, accept going to 24h later at night, or supplement my weeks with some home calisthenics.

We'll see. On the plus side this has been the first year I haven't just plopped off in the summer.. so kudos to me for that!

So I have also slowed down in my decent. I've been in a slump for the past few months do to this unrealistic project timeline, but at least that's over and I can now have my nights/weekends back. Also my Apartment Complex just hired a personal trainer who will give the residence free 30 minute weekly training sessions as well as a Boot Camp every saturday, so hopefully the weight will start coming off a bit faster now.

Stupid work... always in my way for optimal gym time!

Though a buddy of mine was in town last week and commented that I am noticeably slimmer so that's a plus.. and the Rancid pit edge didn't completely drain me like similar pits in the last year or two.. sled and calf raises I thank you!
